Colmar is a city in northeastern France, more specifically in a region called Alsace. Colmar can also be considered as a city most famous among tourists in this region.
Colmar was the inspiration for Walt Disney for some of his best cartoons. The most famous of them is the cartoon “Beauty and the Beast”. In addition to Colmar, Disney took motives for his cartoons from other alsatian cities.

Notable artists Martin Schongauer and Frederick Bartoldi were born in Colmar. Bartoldi, as you probably know, is the author of the famous Statue of Liberty In New York. That is the reason why, at the entrance to the town of Colmar, there is a replica of the famous monument, dedicated precisely to his author.

Another highlight of Colmar is his part called Little Venice (La Petite Venise). When you see the pictures, it will become clear to you how that name came about. Walking around this part of town really leaves you textless. You can also take a boat ride down the Lauh River and feel as if you are indeed in Venice! Boating costs € 6 per person (check for yourself once again with each case). The feeling is truly magical. In the area where Little Venice is located you have a large number of cafes, bars, restaurants, and some of them are located on the river. One of them is the restaurant Les Bateliers.




Colmar offers many opportunities and facilities to take in while visiting this beautiful city. Here are some:
🚂 Little train ride / sightseeing Colmar; You also get headphones if you are interested in hearing about the history of Colmar and his sights. A train stops at each landmark, followed by a short story about the same. The ride takes about half an hour and costs 7€ per person.
🛶 Boating on the Lauh River will give you the full enjoyment and feeling of navigating the canals of Venice. The fare is 6€ per person, but this should be checked on site.
🗽Be sure to visit a replica of the famous Statue of Liberty. It is located at the entrance to the city of Colmar.
